Storytelling in the Face of Florida’s Anti-LGBT Legislation

I have to admit, the growing wave of anti-LGBT legislation in Florida has given me pause with the work I'm doing.

Am I safe to get up on stage and share my coming out story?
Will people use hateful language toward me?
Are people going to get up and leave?
How will they respond?

I've played out the scenarios in my head.

And the truth is, some of them are scary.

But I also know that handling them with the same pillars I teach in my work (Vulnerability, Kindness, Empathy, Curiosity, Humility) is exactly what will carry me through these situations.

So...

I welcome the disagreement
I welcome the conflict
I welcome the tension

I'm as clear now as ever that sharing my story and message about creating connection, engagement and inclusion in the face of our differences is exactly what we need.

And I'm fired up to forge ahead with even more enthusiasm, energy and passion.
